Homemade Labneh

I make this often so I wanted to show how to make one of my favourite appetizers, labneh! Drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with dukkah. This is amazing with pita, roasted veggies, grilled meats and just a great appetizer for a mezzo platter.

Serves about 2 cups

You will need a nut milk bag or cheese cloth or thin dish towel

Prep: 10

Strain time: 6-24 hours

Total: 6-24 hours

INGREDIENTs

  • 4 cups of plain full fat greek yogurt, i like at least 8% fat

  • 1 tsp sea salt

To Garnish

  • Olive oil

  • Dukkah (2tbsp sesame seeds, 2 tsp coriander, 1 tsp aleppo pepper, 1/4 cup chopped pistachios)

Directions

Stir salt into the yogurt. Mix well.

Pour into your nut milk bag (or kitchen cloth or cheese cloth that 2-3 layers thick) set over a strainer and set the strainer over a bowl with enough room to collect up to 2 cups of liquid (the whey that comes out) Set in the fridge or a cool spot in your kitchen for at least 6 hours up to 24 hours.

Tips

You can garnish with anything you'd like. Sumac, zaatar, honey and figs, roasted beets, fresh herbs etc.
